  40. Upgrade from version 3.13a to version 4.04.

  42. Significant changes in this version include support for the new
  43. configuration file searching available in LAN WorkPlace for DOS 4.1 and LAN
  44. WorkGroup 4.1, and enhanced display color control.

  46. Installation instructions:
  47.  
  48. 1.  Go to the \TN3270 directory, and make a PATCH subdirectory.
  49.  
  50. 2.  Copy the TN3270.EXE file to \TN3270\PATCH and execute it.
  51.  
  52. 3.  Execute the INSTALL.BAT file.
  53.  
  54. Notes:
  55.  
  56. You must have the original TN3270 v3.13a software installed in order to
  57. apply this update.  If the patch program cannot find the original 3.13a
  58. files, the new files will not be installed, and warning messages will be
  59. displayed.  If you have installed any other updates to TN3270, you should
  60. remove them and restore the original files prior to applying this update.
  61.  
  62. The patch program will store the original files in the \TN3270\PATCH\BACKUP
  63. directory. If you need to revert to the original files, go to this
  64. directory, rename the UNPATCH.BAK file to UNPATCH.BAT, and execute the
  65. file.  The original files will be restored.

  67. If you copied the v3.13a SNATERMK.STD file to SNATERMK as described on page
  68. 2-3 of the TN3270 for LAN WorkPlace User's Guide, you will need to do this
  69. again after installing the v4.04 update.

  73. VM Help Screen:

  76.   The VM help screen for T3270 Model 4 and Model 5 works correctly now.

  78. Addresses of Snapdumps of Data:

  81.   The addresses of snapdumps of data are shifted to the left in the X15
  82. trace, causing trouble with the "pstrip" program later on.  This problem
  83. has been corrected in this release.

  85. Block Cursor Feature:

  88.   A feature was added to support block cursor for the TN3270 emulator. 
  89. Block cursor can be selected by entering the command line option -BC or by
  90. setting the entry #BLKCUR to "Y" in the SNATEXT file.

  92. Port Numbers Greater than 256:

  95.   This release corrects a problem where a port number greater than 256
  96. would cause a connection failure.

  98. Command Line Options (-red, -blue, -pink):

  101.   The -red and -blue command line options for the TN3270 command are no
  102. longer supported.  When these options are used, a message is displayed
  103. instructing you to use the new color mapping feature.

  118. TN3270 command; -pink is always in effect.

  120. Underlined Fields:

  123.   Underlined fields in the 3270 emulation screens are now displayed in
  124. reverse video.  This enhancement applies to both color and monochrome
  125. screens.  For color screens the text is displayed in the foreground color
  126. grey to distinguish the underlined fields from real reverse video fields.

  128. Color Mapping:

  131.   The color mapping feature allows you to assign new colors to the default
  132. colors used by the 3270 emulator and the API visual mode.
  133.  
  134.   The color mapping feature uses two files:
  135.  
  136.      COLORS.OCS
  137.      PALETTE.OCS
  138.  
  139.   These files are described in the following paragraphs.
  140.  
  141.   COLORS.OCS -  You can edit this file to assign new colors to the default
  142. colors used by the TN3270 for LAN WorkPlace emulator.  The entries on the
  143. left (for example, oc_black, oc_blue, oc_green, etc.) in this file MUST NOT
  144. be changed.  These are the variables used by the TN3270 for LAN WorkPlace
  145. emulation software.  For the right side of the assignment, you can use any
  146. color name defined in the file PALETTE.OCS (for example, blue, azure,
  147. arcticnight, etc.).  DO NOT change PALETTE.OCS - use it as a read-only
  148. file.  It defines the valid color names.

  234. Using TRYCOLOR to view colors produced by assignments in the
  235. COLORS.OCS file:

  237. The utility program TRYCOLOR.EXE lets you view the colors produced by the
  238. assignments in the COLORS.OCS file or by an alternate test file created by
  239. modifying a copy of the COLORS.OCS file.  Entering the TRYCOLOR command
  240. with the -h option displays a help screen describing its use.

  244. Program TRYCOLOR shows the selected emulator colors on the monitor.

  270.   Rather than rejecting the 3270 datastream attributes "Character
  271.   Set" and "Transparency," the TN3270 product ignores these
  272.   attributes for a text mode terminal.

  277.   The -nocolor option works correctly now with an Orchid VGA board
  278.   and a monochrome monitor.

  286. The -DM and -DN Command Line Options:

  289.   The -DM and -DN command line options can now be entered with or
  290.   without a space (that is, -DM and -D M are both valid, also -DN
  291.   and -D N are both valid).

  293. Image Data Processing:

  296.   This release fixes a problem in the image data processing engine
  297.   where image data was all being painted on one line on the screen.

  299. The -nocolor Option:

  302.   This release adds the -nocolor option to T3270 for forcing
  303.   monochrome mode.  This option is more effective for CGA, EGA, and
  304.   VGA monitors than the -DM option.

  306. Screen Painting:

  309.   Screens are now painted correctly for all CRT models upon a
  310.   session change; that is, with the right number of lines and
  311.   columns.  This also fixes the problem of a PC soft wait, when
  312.   attempting to forward tab on a screen with the number of lines
  313.   set incorrectly.

  315. Specification of an IP Address on the Command Line:

  318.   This release adds support for specification of an IP address on
  319.   the command line for TN3270.EXE for PC-NFS, 3Com, and HP sockets.

  321. Lightpen Selection:

  324.   Lightpen selection occasionally locked up the keyboard,
  325.   necessitating a keyboard reset by the user.  This problem has
  326.   been corrected.
